The Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress offers the best of both worlds. This mattress is a great option for any Canadian who needs a budget-friendly option with great qualities and is our favourite pocket coil mattress in Canada.

The cover of the Silk & Snow Hybrid mattress is breathable and soft, promoting excellent airflow and reduction of heat closest to your body. Those with allergies or sensitive skin will appreciate the antimicrobial fabric, which naturally prevents bacteria and odours. Under this plush cover is a layer of cooling foam, which reduces and regulates temperatures for even the hottest sleepers. Users will enjoy the feeling of sinking into this soft layer without feeling stuck or trapped.

For those who co-sleep or have their pets or small children in their bed often, the middle layer of high-density memory foam helps prevent the feeling of restless movement from your partner. The Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress features a base of 1,200 zoned pocket coils aimed at supporting and cushioning your entire body. These zoned coils provide unique relief for joints and pressure points, which is softer on your shoulders and hips and firmer for your head and back.

Unlike all foam mattresses that struggle to keep the edges firm over time, this hybrid mattress features great edge support. The entire perimeter of the Silk & Snow Mattress has a built-in support system that ensures the mattress keeps its shape and firmness over time, even for those who sleep on the edge of the bed regularly.

The Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress is available in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King and California King, which will work for all bed frames you may already have. This mattress is a great pick for any budget-conscious Canadian looking for an awesome pocket coil mattress with a soft foam top. If you have a little more to spend and need an even softer mattress, consider the Plush version of this mattress. Available straight from the same listing on the Silk & Snow website, the Plush version uses thicker comfort layers to reduce pressure. It’s great for those who like a soft mattress that is extremely supportive.

If you need a firmer mattress, Silk & Snow has you covered there too. The Firm version of the Silk & Snow Hybrid has fewer comfort layers for a firmer, more supportive feel overall.

Key Features

  • Antimicrobial Cover. Those with allergies will appreciate this antimicrobial cover. It’s breathable and comfortable, but the antimicrobial properties mean it is naturally germ-free and odour-free.
  • Quilted Top. This cushioning and supportive layer of cooling gel foam helps Canadians stay cool and comfortable all night long. It’s breathable enough to reduce higher temperatures as you sleep.
  • Pocket Coil Base. These 1200 tempered steel pocket coils are the base of the Silk & Snow Hybrid and provide excellent pressure relief for those who have back pain or joint issues.
  • Edge Support. The firm perimeter of the mattress prevents sinking and sagging when you sit on the edge of the mattress. While it keeps you comfortable as you wake up in the morning, it also prevents long-term sagging.

It's Great For:

Many Canadians seek extra support and pressure relief when buying a new mattress, and the Endy Hybrid will not disappoint. This mattress features cooling and cushioning top layers over a solid and supportive pocket coil base and is our favourite coil mattress in Canada for those needing support.

At the top of the Endy Hybrid is a quilted and plush layer that mimics a pillow top. The breathable cover helps disperse warm air and promotes excellent circulation. The Endy Comfort Foam that lays under the cover is made with open-cell technology that further sends heat out the ventured sides of the mattress, keeping sleepers cool. For those who sleep hot or live in warm climates, this hybrid mattress does a great job of temperature control.

The middle of the Endy Hybrid is a thick layer of Endy Transition Foam, which is great for couples or those who co-sleep. This foam prevents motion transfer between restless partners and aids in getting a peaceful night’s sleep, undisturbed by the other side of the bed. Those who have joint or back pain will like how this transition foam cushions and cradles the body, alleviating pressure points.

The foundation of the mattress is formed with high-carbon steel pocket coils, which are durable and ensure long usage. These coils are extremely quiet, so you won’t hear squeaks when moving around. Those suffering from back pain or needing extra lumbar support will benefit from this layer of zoned pocket coils, which are incredibly supportive. At the bottom of the Endy Hybrid is an additional layer of support foam, which helps keep the bed firm throughout the years.

The Endy Hybrid is available in most standard mattress sizes, including Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and California King. This excellent mattress is a great hybrid option for those needing deep pressure relief and support. In 2025, Endy began offering the Endy Hybrid in three firmness options. The Firm, Medium-Firm (reviewed here), and Plush Endy Hybrid use layers of varying thicknesses to create a noticeable change in firmness between them.

Key Features

  • Quilted Cover. This soft and airy cover helps reduce heat and sweat by allowing air to flow freely through the fibres. It’s a plush, comforting layer that reduces temperature and helps you fall asleep comfortably.
  • Endy Comfort Foam. Canadians who sleep hot will enjoy this layer of Comfort Foam. It works to reduce temperatures and wick away moisture throughout the mattress, so you can sleep a little cooler.
  • Transition Foam. Made of thick high-density foam, this layer is great for those who co-sleep with restless partners or need pressure relief for achy joints.
  • Zoned Pocket Coils. Made of steel, these zoned pocket coils are string and squeak-free. These coils are softer on your hips and shoulders and firmer for your back, providing fantastic lumbar support.

As our favourite natural pocket coil mattress in Canada, the Silk and Snow Organic Mattress is a great hybrid mattress with many features that is built to last for years. Constructed with sustainable and eco-conscious materials, this mattress is a great choice for environmentally responsible users.

Made of organic cotton covering thick New Zealand wool, the top layer of the Silk & Snow Organic Mattress mimics a plush pillowtop. This soft layer is comfy and stays naturally cool without the use of added chemicals. Those who sleep warm will find this keeps them comfortable, but extra hot sleepers may need to add cooling sheets to be comfortable.

The middle layer of the Silk and Snow Organic Mattress is made from organic latex, which is incredibly responsive and supportive for all sleeping positions. More durable than memory foam, this latex layer is naturally cool and breathable.

At the bottom of this hybrid mattress lies a layer of zoned pocket coils. These coils provide great lumbar support and limit motion transfer between co-sleepers. Our Testing Process For Pocket Coil Mattresses in Canada?

For years, we’ve monitored and reported on new developments in the sleep industry. To create our list, we put each of the mattresses we review through extensive testing, which includes two different testing methods. First, our test labs examine each mattress and put them through rigorous evaluations. Our testers try the mattresses for the length of a sleep trial, ensuring that they get the most time with them as possible. We combined notes from these testing methods to recommend the best pocket spring mattresses in Canada.

Our experts looked at some of the performance area results for each mattress, including support and construction, temperature control, motion isolation, and pressure relief.

What is a Pocket Spring Mattress

What is a Pocket Spring Mattress?

A pocket spring mattress, sometimes called a hybrid mattress, uses a layer of pocketed coils to provide support. Unlike standard innerspring mattresses, each spring in a pocket spring moves independently. They can compress right where you need them to. This allows a pocket spring mattress to provide more customized support than an innerspring.

There are a lot of benefits associated with using pocket spring mattresses. Here are some of the reasons why you should choose a pocket spring mattress.

  • Great support
  • Proper spinal alignment for most sleepers, especially side sleepers
  • Still compatible with adjustable frames
  • Better customized support
  • Longer warranties and expected lifespan
  • Less motion transfer than innerspring
  • Better balancing and alignment
  • Breathable and better at controlling temperature

These benefits elevate pocket spring mattresses over other options. These mattresses are more supportive than memory foam alone but provide better support and motion isolation than innerspring mattresses. Additionally, pocket spring mattresses are the only type of bed in a box mattress that may include pillow tops, making it best for those who prefer a more comforting feel.

How to Choose a Pocket Spring Mattress in Canada

How to Choose a Pocket Spring Mattress in Canada

Pocket springs are not all created equally, and pocket spring mattresses are subject to some of the same problems that plague all foam mattresses. How do you know which one will be right for you? Below, we’ve highlighted some basics and special features that can help you sleep better on your new Canadian pocket coil mattress.

Spring Type

There are just a few different types of springs to choose from in Canada. While spring materials are important, you should be more concerned about the implementation of the springs. Standard spring layouts use hundreds (sometimes thousands) of pocket springs to create a support layer.

The other option features zoned springs. Different comfort zones allow for targeted support. The most common type of zoned support features firmer springs in the middle of the mattress, ready to support your lumbar and hips.

Other Materials

What else is used in your mattress? Once you find out what’s going on with the pocket coil layer, you can focus on the materials that they use to offer support and comfort. Most pocket spring mattresses use layers of memory foam, latex, and fill to create their perfect feel.

Look closely at the layers stacked on top of the coil layer. You want plenty of materials that provide great pressure relief, temperature control, and better motion isolation. Look for high-quality materials to help support the coil layer and ensure that it does its job.

Firmness, Sleeping Position, and Body Type

Every mattress has a firmness rating based on how it feels and how much support it offers. This is a great way to see if you’ll like how the mattress feels at a glance. However, it’s important to know what your preferences are. Firmness preferences are personal, but they can be affected by factors like body type and sleeping position.

  • Soft mattresses are usually better for stomach sleepers and those weighing up to 130lbs, or 59kg.
  • Medium mattresses are best for side sleepers and those weighing between 130lbs (59kg) and 230lbs (104kg).
  • Firm mattresses are better for back sleepers and those weighing more than 230lbs (104kg).

These guidelines are only suggestions. Your personal preferences may be outside of these parameters, but they provide a great place to start looking.

Temperature Control

If you wake up sweaty and overheated, you aren’t alone. Many Canadians sleep hot, generating more heat as they sleep. This can even wake you up in the middle of the night. While pocket spring mattresses are better at controlling temperature than all-foam options, mattresses that use memory foam still retain more heat than those that don’t.

As a result, many mattress companies now use temperature control features. These features include cooling gel foams, perforated or aerated foams, breathable materials, open-cell construction, and even pocket coils. If you often overheat during the night, look for a mattress with as many of these features as possible.

Motion Isolation

Do you sleep with a restless partner? Some mattresses (especially traditional coil mattresses) help move motion from one side of the bed to the other. This means when your partner tosses and turns, you’ll feel vibration in the mattress. This can keep you awake, especially if you’re a light sleeper. If you want to sleep peacefully even when your partner isn’t, you need a mattress with better motion isolation features. These features can reduce or stop the amount of motion that makes its way across the mattress.

Pocket coil mattresses provide better motion isolation overall, especially when compared to more traditional spring mattresses. If you need to isolate motion, look for dense foam layers, thick transition layers, and open-cell foam construction. Since pocket coils compress individually, they will always provide some measure of motion isolation. Foam layers can definitely help reduce any transfer from the other side of the mattress.

Edge Support

Do you feel like you’ll slide off of the mattress if you sit on the edge? Some foam mattresses (and even mattresses with coils) have this issue. The last thing you want when you sit on the edge of the bed in the morning is to feel unstable. While most mattresses collapse at the edges, those with stronger edge support will support you properly.  If you sleep near the edge of the mattress, you also need strong edge support from your mattress.

Thankfully, some mattresses have stepped up to provide better edge support. Some pocket coil mattresses have firmer coils around the perimeter of their support layers, which can bolster the edges and prevent collapsing. Others may include firmer edge perimeters, which work to give you a more stable edge to sit or sleep on. Look for mattresses with these features if edge support is important to you.

Pressure Relief

Pressure relief can determine how comfortably you sleep. Mattresses with good pressure relief reduce pressure on your back and your joints, meaning you wake up with fewer pressure points and sleep better throughout the night.

A deeper mattress usually provides better pressure relief. Pocket spring mattresses use layers of memory foam, latex, and sometimes pillow-top fill to create a comfortable, pressure-relieving surface. While some are better than others, you can always rely on a pocket spring mattress to offer good pressure relief.

Spring Count

The spring count is an often-overlooked feature that sets pocket spring mattresses apart. The coil layer in each pocket spring mattress contains a certain number of springs. The number of springs matters. A higher spring count generally leads to a more supportive mattress.

Go for a spring count of at least 1,000. A 1,500-spring mattress is very supportive, and higher counts get even more so. If you need extra full-body support, consider choosing a mattress with a higher spring count. Otherwise, a lower count (around 1,000) is fine for most sleepers.

Keep in mind that some manufacturers won’t tell you how many springs are used in each mattress size. This information can be difficult or impossible to find, but it can help you choose the best option if you are able to find it.

Ease of Movement

It can be difficult to move around on some mattresses. Even the best pocket coil mattresses in Canada face issues with movement. The foam layers on the top of the mattress can sink around your body, making it difficult to move around or get out of bed.

If you need more ease of movement as you sleep, you should consider choosing a more responsive mattress. Options that use latex in the top layers can help reduce sinking without sacrificing pressure relief or support. Look for a mattress that makes it easy to move around without allowing you to feel stuck in the mattress.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pocket coil mattresses have unique features that help you sleep better. Canadians seeking a more durable mattress with better support will love pocket coil or hybrid mattresses. These mattresses often have better edge support properties compared to all-foam mattresses, provide stronger support, and can be zoned for balance and comfort.

Yes, all of the mattresses in our review today are made in Canada. Casper mattresses are also made in the United States and shipped out of North American warehouses. Noa mattresses have worldwide facilities, including a dedicated Canadian warehouse.

All of the mattresses in our review today were pocket coil hybrid mattresses. This means that there are layers of foam or a pillow top that sits on a thick coil base. All-foam mattresses are comprised of layers of foam, and no coils or springs are used.

Essentially, pocket coil mattresses are the same as hybrid mattresses. There are some differences when it comes to the types of coils used in the mattress, though. Some options use micro-coils or other coil types that aren’t classified as pocket coils. The difference is minimal, though. A mattress may be called a pocket coil mattress and a hybrid mattress interchangeably.

Pocket coil mattresses are considered one-sided mattresses. Because of the way that these mattresses are constructed, you get the most benefit from sleeping on top of them. If you flip them, you lose these benefits and the mattress may become uncomfortable. Instead, you should rotate the mattress every few months to prevent indents and discomfort.

Pocket coil mattresses are more breathable than all-foam mattresses, allowing for better airflow throughout the core of the mattress. This means the mattress is less likely to retain heat. Still, a pocket coil mattress with layers of cooling materials is a better option than a pocket coil mattress with memory foam only. This is because of memory foam’s notorious heat-retention properties, which can still make you feel too hot in a pocket coil mattress.

How does the 100-night Endy sleep trial differ from the 365-night sleep trial from the other brands?

    1. kimberly

      Hello Avery,
Endy and the other companies represented on this list have different policies regarding their sleep trials. I would encourage you to look up Endy’s trial for all of their particulars, but most of the other companies require you to try the mattress for a number of nights before initiating a return if you don’t like it.

hybrid mattresses are great, my new favourites. I don’t like memory foam much becuase i get hot but i appreciate this list.
